Why it pays to wait; Cebu Starbuks trail achieved!

It’s been months since I set a goal of trekking into the Starbucks Summit in Cebu City; I met people who were also interested in the trail but had other agendas which was against my will. I’m not hiking to find a relationship, I hike for fun and give myself peace of mind.

Finally, I asked someone to walk with me last month but he couldn’t because of his knee injury. I was also not in shape to walk plus that day was one of my best friends daughter’s christening. We didn’t force anything, I enjoyed whole day eating and enjoying the party.

I asked someone at work to join me into the Starbuks but she’s not so interested, her boyfriend did not return back to the trail, saying it’s hard; but she changed her mind. One day, she asked me to visit our little island in Lapu Lapu, called Olango Island, I said “Yes”, I can get you there.

The next day after, she suggested to head to Starbuks first that rest day; she doesn’t know the trail but I insisted we can ask the locals to guide us through. We agreed and invited someone from the team which I wanted to hike with as well. He came and the trail was the liveliest.

We all three decided which way to go; if the direction doesn’t feel right, but there’s no other way but to turn back; we decided to keep going until the end of trail. Sometimes, if you feel like going back because it seems like the trail you’re following is not bringing you to your destination; take risk, keep going; only return if you have seen a dead end; if there’s still a way, keep going and see what’s ahead.

Admit that you’re wrong and reconsider same instruction. The first instruction was to keep going left; do not step into the private property once you arrived at the old woman’s house. At first we thought that the old woman’s house was the big house under construction but we couldn’t see any sign of “Private Property.”

So I personally applied the instruction to the next turn where we thought we’ve lost our way because we couldn’t find the place; it’s covered. The private property sign as well as the Nipa hut was strong enough sign to keep going despite the doubt, with one thing in mind, “Take risk, if it’s not right then let’s return.” If you’re new to the place, you will think like maybe the trail is bringing you back home.

The Starbuks peak really felt like home. Nipa houses with little stores where you can order pancit cantoon and many more. With more than 10 cottages, view was superb! There’s a free food, I forgot the name but it’s a fruit tree. I can stay there all day and way for the sundown before descending home.

On our way back, we decided to try another trail; so steep, we collided. It’s so slidy if that’s the right term. All three of us have experienced the slide effect, thanks to the cane we bought for only P20 that time. It saves us from falling down the hill. It’s good to have 2nd thoughts because in the end we decided to buy that thing.
