I had a change of destination; I was gonna spend my Feb. 2024 Vacation leave to Camp Adela; things happened, people were unsure, time was inappropriate; I went back to Mt. Manunggal instead where I spent two nights and two days.

It was fogging and it was so cold; I had myself with me and I survived two nights on my own. Actually I wasn’t really alone, I was with birds, dogs and the people at Mt. Manunggal.
I was a little trespassing at Pimentel’s place but I asked permission anyway; the person assigned was really respectful and friendly. I was really blessed to have been surrounded by them. I knew that I’ll be safe in that place even if I will walk alone.

The last time I was there was August 2024; where I walked alone and the dogs accompanied me until I reached the top of the mountain. Six months after, I returned back; this time, a beautiful dog welcomed me. Look at this cutie.

He was escorting the new visitors and then on his way back, he came to me and allowed me to pat his head:

I was so blessed that day! I had pets around; they’re the best companions in the world: loyal, always available, sweet and loving. Never be afraid to travel on your own, because you’ll never be alone, never.
I used to have friends climbing up with me but they never returned, they pursue their goals in life, same as I do, but I chose to stay. Maybe I should try working abroad too? Let’s see where my desires brings me.
My latest camping at Mt. Manunggal was the 4th time I visited the place. Year 2021, I was with lyka. Year 2023, I was with a couple, around April, we climb the rock formations; same year, I returned around August to walk from the drop-off point up to Mt. Manunggal, then also camp alone.
Feb 16, 2024 was my first time this year; I did not walk because I was tired from 21km Waterfront to Waterfront run last Feb. 11, 2024, but I camped alone; and this time, I was using my strong hammock and it’s two nights compared to my other visits. There’s always something new everytime I’m visiting Mt. Manunggal.
I’m excited about next time; for sure there’s gonna be something new, but I will definitely walk and will probably trek the other side of Barangay Sunog. I heard it has a different climate compared to Mt. Manunggal. Thanks to the local who gave me that idea.
Ah, I almost forgot, it’s also my first time visiting the neighbors den. It was restricted but I was allowed because I was just lucky and blessed. Until next time, Sir! Thank you for the respect and the chicka minute. It was awesome! It was memorable!

I was searching for sea of clouds and Mt. Manunggal just gave me the real view!

Looks like I’m in heaven. I was with the clouds. I’m in it. This place never disappointed me. I had what I needed. I had the peace, the space, the silence, the respect, the safety, and most of all the joy of trying new things everytime.
If you want to see the sunrise, the place will offer you that:

The last time I visited Mt. Manunggal, the PH Army was there! They were tree planting. It felt good to see them trekking just like I did day before. I hoped I could stay for another night to join them with tree planting but I gotta work. So this time, I spent two nights!
It was already very cold and I really wanted to go home already. It’s good to miss the warmth downhill. It felt so refreshing to be back after that really cold weather. I had more than enough. I guess I’ll have to practice trekking and sleeping there before heading to Baguio and climbing Mt. Pulag.

It’s really my dream to climb Mt. APO, so I’ll have to prepare for it. See you at the top!
