I am blessed just now. I opened my Instagram and Ms Heng’s message came to me. I’m always a fan of hers. One day, I’ll buy one of her books. I just have to save a little.
I was inspired by her stories about her mother and how she grew up; her relationship with her in the past and now that she knew the reason behind her mother’s behaviour.
I have my own personal problems too; and it’s more on understanding why people behave the way they are. I have been so naive and ignorant about psychological health, mental health disorders; I thought everyone’s like me.
My friend was right, he told me to learn to see the difference. He would often ask me, “Can you see the difference?”. Not everyone are the same. We all have different backgrounds and individual lives. It’s always important to be nice.
So be nice to everyone even if they’re hurting you, they made you feel less important, even if they’ve chosen others over you. It’s probably because they have this perception of you, or perception of others that made them decide. We really don’t know what’s on the other side of the story. So just be nice, still; no matter what.
They might be triggering, but like “Louie” told us in one of our interactions, “If you’re triggered, just think about how they feel.” That’s a very beautiful lesson that can be applied to everything. I mean every interaction with people. It’s a very good way to be nice to people.
It will make you feel happy, I swear. If you think of it, the EGO would say a lot of things, like “they’ll think you’re weak, if you’ll forgive; they’ll keep doing it if you’ll let it pass; it’s not right to be good all the time, it will spoil them.” Nothing is wrong with thinking critically, but if you want to save yourself from your critical self, just do it and be nice. If you can, why not? But sometimes, the best way to save others, is to not spoil them.
I’m just saying, there are exceptions. There are special people with psychological health because of some beliefs they have; some, you’ll just have to love them for who they are; violence is not the best solution; it will only make it worse. So just be nice and kind and salute their divinity within; they might change their mind.
