My foot still hurts, so does my back. I had the most amazing experience yesterday @ 4AM, Feb. 11, 2023. Remember I shared about running a marathon? Oh that happened! It finally happened.

I had a mix of emotions; the pain, the joy! I was in between. As long as I finished the marathon before my cut off time, I’m fine. I didn’t appreciate it before because I was in pain, all I wanted was rest; but now I’m slowly digesting and congratulating myself for doing her best to get to the finish line despite the pain.
So that runner version of me had to remove her shoes 4 kilometers towards the finish line. I had to because wearing shoes slows me down and it’s hurting my foot, way more than running barefoot. I felt happy on barefoot. I enjoyed searching for soft spots to step on to protect my two vulnerable feet.
Anyhow, I realized that little movements as long as it’s constant really makes a difference. So no matter how slow you go, as long as you’re consistent, you’ll surely reach the finish line. If you won’t give up and you let go of those other thoughts of being left behind, you’ll surely achieve whatever goals you set for yourself.
It’s amazing to have met people who cares about me instead of bullying me. In that race, I felt supported and accepted; I really appreciate those three people who cheered me up and those who really bother to ask and check on me without judgement.
In events like marathon, your patience will be tested, pain tolerance, mindset, endurance, etc. It’s the best exercise to train ones mind to keep going, as long as you’re not stopping, you’re making progress and that’s all that matters.
Remember your goal and do it the hard way if needed. Cheating is not getting you anywhere, you must endure, that will train you to achieve the next level which is harder than it was before. Learn the lesson in this phase; lessons that will help you achieve your next goal.
Like for example:
- I noticed that if I’ll walk, my foot hurts more; but I kept on jogging and running, the pain goes away.
- I noticed that if I kept on comparing myself to other runners, I’ll lose.
- Focus on you energy, I noticed that if I’ll look at tired runners, I’ll also feel tired; look at the enduring runners and cheer for them instead.
- I think it’s fun to run in groups where you can have each other; not competing but supporting.
