Solo Island Traveling as Your New Favorite Escape: Featuring Camotes, Island

Solo travelling became my favorite hobby since I started in 2023! I discovered that it’s so challenging to travel on your own, either outside of your city, other nearby islands or outside of your mind (No just kidding, I mean Spacing Out).

I took a leap of faith last 2024, since I decided to celebrate my birthday in Bukidnon. It would be my first solo travel outside of the norm. I did my own research, contacted people, did my own reservations, and ended up being stopped at Davao Airport for bringing a lighter (Sorry, first time 🤭).

Wonder how I get to Davao from Bukidnon? I land travelled. Yes, it’s 7-8 hours. First Solo Flight, first time in Cagayan Boulevard, Dahilayan, Panimahawa Ridge, Roty Ridge and finally Davao! I wasn’t lost, I found myself enjoying. From cleaning my shoes at the checkpoint going Bukidnon to not giving coins for ritual in Bukidnon (I forgot, and I didn’t mean it).

Nowadays, I’m a fan of booking air-conditioned room, not only because I can afford it now but because I often lack sleep, so I needed that kind of room to get some beauty rest. One time I woke up in an empty room, woke up by the cleaner; the boat have already landed and I was still asleep.

Have you ever tried waiting for 4 hours for the next boat going to Camotes, Island? Another 5 hours waiting time going back to Cebu? That was insane, and I found it so interesting! It’s a funny experience. Quick, yet so perfect!

I didn’t dare to rent a motorbike but I dared walked and run for 5 km at 5:00 am just to see the morning sun, I was literally chasing sunrise. I captured this…

It wasn’t the best sunrise but it was the best beach! Camotes Island gave me the best island vibe. I lived in an island too but it’s full of buildings. Parts of Camotes road is still dark at night, which makes it so chilling and refreshing. Definitely worth coming back!

Look at these coconut trees! I wonder if Siargao beats the vibe in Camotes. I’ll figure it out, still on the list of islands to solo travel!

I had the best sunset though! Nothing beats Camotes Sunrises, yet!

Imagine yourself chilling there. Watching it closely with your naked eye. Sitting Still, under the Nipa Hut.

At night you soak yourself in a swimming pool covered with woods and green leaves; listening to crickets and birds. Reading your favorite book, sipping milk or coffee. That’s vacation, no hustle, just you.

In the morning, you run 5 km to see the sun rising while enjoying the longest white sand beach of Santiago White Beach! People swimming, wearing bikinis with their families and partners. You’re on your own just observing your surrounding while also having fun yourself!
