The Solo Adventurers NoteBook: Journey to Mt. Campetra

Meet me in the wilderness where no one knows my name; a message from someone unknown 🤭 – me. I just want to exercise my ability to CHANGE, to decide quickly with accuracy and to relax while figuring out what to do next.

To make this long story short, just in case you’re in a hurry; I decided to camp at Mt. Campetra, however I got tired and arrived at night, needless to say I should have travelled early to avoid traffic, but thanks for being late, if I had camped that night, I would be soaking wet since it’s raining. Things happened for good reasons. Anyway, I had no place to go yet, SunRays runs so fast, luckily my phone was fully charged and my Google maps became my best buddy.

“I can sense my seatmate feeling me lost and don’t know what to do yet,” I simply ignored her emotion, she’s probably just worried SunRays will twirl at anytime because it runs so fast like we’re flying and everytime there’s a bridge, you’ll really feel its impact like, “What the! My butt just left my seat?” “Are we in a roller coaster ride?” Oh, and she’s a local by the way.

“Oh thank goodness, my head banging over the glass window, I woke up seeing the beautiful view.” Now my favorite color, “Golden white, but not so white. No, not a dirty white. It’s white, just shining like my heart that time.” But you know what I’m thankful for the most that moment? It’s that the glass was thicker and stronger than my head, otherwise I would have broken it and it would have been a disaster. It’s safer to be less stubborn, yeah?

I came all the way from LLC and I’m still figuring out where to stay in Alcoy since I have to change plan, I’ll visit Mt. Campetra in the morning, instead. I guess accepting my mothers tip was a good choice, it got me a room for the night! She probably knew I’m on a budget mode but still want to go far, and oh boy ‘shes unstoppable, stubborn as… her?’ Good thing I made really good choices in life, except for men? Oh well, in that case we’re the same.

As we are approaching near alcoy proper, I feel a little hungry so I decided to stop at the public market and from there I’ll think and decide what to do next. I never thought I would meet such wonderful people in that restaurant. I have to order of course and then I started asking questions like a curious traveller, but they asked me first okay? Wondering why I’m alone… I told them, “I was gonna camp at Mt. Campetra but I guess I came in later, it’s too dark already, so I’ll just stay downhill for the night.”

They started giving me names of places I can stay, Tingko Beach was one but I never thought it has different owners, so different entrances. In every gate, there’s an owner and their cottages were expensive, obviously not designed for solo travellers. I had to go back and stay in “Malayao Inn” for P200 per hour. Oh the lady sitting next to me at the restaurant said that it has “Insects” causing itchiness, but thank goodness, not in my room, just hungry mosquitoes.

My desire to try my luck at Tingko Beach leads me to “Kuya Driver.” He’s in the dark and I couldn’t see his face but can hear his voice and it sounds like a good man, so I hopped in after we talked about the price; he gave me the right price so I knew he’s telling the truth. I started asking rates to Mt. Campetra and he offered me the regular rate for two, but because I’m alone, he gave me lesser, P 500 back and forth.

We had a deal, I gave him my phone number so he can confirm if I had no change of mind. I was hesitant and he did not memorize his phone number, but thanks to my amazing ability to hope for the best. I was very thankful and grateful that kuya was very determined to bring me to Mt. Campetra. It’s really why I was there in the first place, just keeping my heart open for a good change even though I have already decided. You know what’s on my mind that night? I thought someone would come to pick up like a story in a fairy tale waiting for his prince to come rushing because the princess was lost; but of course I’m old enough for that, so I said, “Yes! I’m going!”

At 5AM in alcoy, environment was so quiet and it would have been so hard for me to find a good driver to bring me up to the mountains. I’m so lucky kuya texted 3 minutes before our scheduled time. “Such a lucky morning, Rose! It’s a miracle you have a load and managed to text back. You’re not a princess and you have no prince, ‘You’re a Queen’ and your king is waiting.

His son was with him and it was a really nice ride with them. I really had so much fun, specially when the cold air touches my face, it felt so refreshing! To think that I had trouble sleeping night before since the Aircon in my room wasn’t working well, it was so hot; then, boom! Here comes this beautiful side of alcoy! It felt like heaven is for real; the beauty of noticing slight differences.

Although, we haven’t seen the “Sea of Clouds” which I thought would be very interesting, but the ride was awesome anyway. They said that the clouds will pass by sometimes, so I’m still lucky it did not, I looked up and saw a real sea of clouds above us, more that the sea of clouds I was expecting! “I’m just really making myself feel better; but I’m really coming back to camp and hopefully I’ll wake up seeing those clouds social medias talking about.

On our way back, I noticed that kuya was famous, in every turn there were fans, “Oh, I’m quiet impressed with my instinct. I have given the chance of this really good person. It reminds me of my father, he’s a good man too, he really was! A lot also knew him, in our place, before. I’m not sure now.” But, going back…

I’m just totally happy! It was a real adventure and I nailed it. If there are tips I can give you if you want to travel on your own, it’s this!

“Always, trust your instincts. Let it lead the way. It’s a part of you that knows best, you’re partly awesome, remember that.”

Remember that you attract what you focus on, so focus on attracting the good ones that will bring you safe to your destinations and will help you make your dreams into reality. This wisdom applies in all areas of your life, may it be in your career, future family, next travel, etc. Remember to salute the divinity in every person you will soon meet. I learned that from the book, “The science of getting Rich!”

Oh! I almost forgot, this is how I look from behind, in case you wanna follow me 🤭

Yeah, I know I’m cute 🥺 and I still go to gym because it kept me from boredom and helped me process my never ending FOOD cravings.

Wait, let me post this! You may watch this ride! Have fun 😉

The thrill on our way back from Mt. Campetra.

Hear the birds?

Slow your breathing and you will hear the birds tweeting. It’s beautiful! I’m definitely going back to do Bird Watching. I heard that Nug-as in Alcoy is a reserved forest, a home of the bird, “Siloy” and kuya pointed me to where I can find the guide. I can guide you the way as well.

By the way, just in case you’ve heard that always chosing right will bring you to Mt. Campetra, it’s not true. You must also turn left specially after passing the main road, but you must definitely turn right soon as you arrived Nug-As Public Market.

Hint: “The Public Market” is a good location to stop by, because it’s a home of local foods. It will fill up your belly and full belly helps a man think again.
