I have been a fan of C-dramas, appreciating series starting from Zhao Lusi to Yang Yang, Liu Yuning, Song Weilong, Esther Yu, etc. This is my first time watching Zhang Linghe and Tian Xiwei together in a series and it really impressed me to the highest level. I have seen Zhang Linghe’s movies with Esther Yu and I really hoped they will have more screen time together with the “Devil” series, I forgot the title already. I’m planning of watching Journey to You, but it’s not yet available on Netflix.
For now, “Pursuit of Jade” is my go to series on Netflix for inspiration. I have watched the entire series already and now I’m rewatching it again. I spent the whole day of my leave yesterday April 20, 2026 just watching the series. I may finish the entire movie for the second time tonight as I am still on a leave. Hopefully, it will inspire me to write more and learn writing a novel too. It’s just so beautifully crafted and edited that every series feels like a whole movie; I’m always satisfied in every episodes, never a dull moment. It’s good that the main characters were always around the scenes even if they’re not together.
I love how entertaining the story was, like every character really serves a purpose and every personalities are well presented by the actors. It’s amazing how the series shows love, respect, forgiveness, neighborhood, support, an ideal family that I can also relate to back in the province, except for the Lovers side. It’s a great story, really great I would wish it will be added as one of the educational movies for the youth. The purity of the love scenes and kissing scenes were only in my dreams, and I’m so happy the series actually shows like I wanted it to be.
The main characters not holding grudges but also not holding back, and ended up understanding and forgiving each other in every conflict means a lot, I truly felt the love. The status differences that hits different and the connection of every characters revealed beautifully like the viewers wanted it to be. It was awesome. The repetition of instances performed by different group of characters creates synchronicities, which make the characters really are meant to be. What a beautiful destiny.
If there would be one series that I will keep watching to get inspired when writing stories about family, it would be “Pursuit of Jade.” Even Tian Xiwei and Zhang Linghe smiles almost like they’re twins, with their actions being mirrored by the other unconsciously. It is as if the story was theirs in their other lives. Glad to see them together in this series. May they create more inspiring movies for everyone to mirror with.
