Last weekend, I finally camped again at Kang-Irag Camping Site in Cebu. It has been in my list of places to camp and trek but since 2023, I kept being rerouted to different camping sites instead of doing it solo. I had fears that was probably stopping me or I just didn’t wanna walk alone because it’s lonely with no guides.
This year, in December I finally found the right people to join in, my workmate and the other joiner “Bien” which is actually a veteran in mountaineering. He’s not just a mountaineer, he’s also a seaman. It was cool to have both of them around.

We planned of going to that next long trail but due to the weather conditions, we had it cancelled. But I still wanted to do long walk because I prepared for it, so I will be walking to the other route which I really really wanted to go! I’d be the luckiest if “Bien” will not cancel because “Ali” did, she’s got other plans.
AHA MOMENTS
Since I was surrounded by both athlete and mountaineer, I learned their ways. I learned from “Ali” to not rest too much during physical activities like what we did, “Trekking Uphill”, because the body will restore back to its calm state and we will have to rebuild that strength again which is already tiring.
“Bien” taught me to adjust the strings on my backpacks tightly, making it closer to my back so that its weight will not drag me down while climbing. He even taught us how to use the burner I’ve had for quite sometime. There was actually a built in lighter but I was doing it manually with an actual lighter.
Oh, and he was very kind to us because obviously we’re newbies. I’ve had quite a few treks and camps but nothing super major. I wanted to train so I can climb Mt. Apo Successfully. The advise is to try other major climbs like those highest mountains in Bukidnon. I aimed “Kitanglad” last August during my birth month but I felt scared doing it alone with a guide, I wanted to join a team, so I decided to just climb “Mt. Kulago” after “Panimahawa Ridge” I’m 2024.

2026 will be awesome and I’m really excited to join good teams. I hoped to meet amazing people to learn from in this “Community”. I aimed to keep building resiliency, keeping my self open to change and be flexible to anything uncertain. Making the “Unknown” my best of friends and a motivation to keep my discipline on going.
At 3Am, I will be heading to the “Spartan Trail” with a twist. It’s a bit raining but hopefully we’ll make it through and “Bien” the great will not cancel. I’m bound for a great adventure and these are just my few trainings. May it calm my mind and restore my balance.
This time, I will be bringing garbage bag to pick up pieces of trashes left by who else, “The Thrashers.” I decided to do something because I saw that we are destroying beauty. While in “Budlaan Falls”, we saw a lot of trashes floating, I thought it’s only in the city. We really need serious discipline. If we’re flooded, it’s not just one person to blame, we are all responsible to it; from keeping quite to not doing anything.
How about you? What are you up to?
